How does a cassette type air conditioner work?

The outdoor unit circulates refrigerant. In cooling mode, refrigerant enters the indoor unit's evaporator coil. Room air is drawn in by the fan, passing over the cold coil where heat is absorbed, cooling the air before it's recirculated. The heated refrigerant returns to the outdoor unit where it's compressed and condensed, releasing heat outside. In heating mode, this process reverses to extract heat from outside air and release it indoors.
